Privacy Policy

Sproutkind is designed to keep plant care personal and understandable. This policy describes the information the app handles and the choices available to you.

Information Sproutkind handles

Sproutkind may process structured plant records, custom plant names, notes, care history, scan metadata, an optional city preference, anonymous account identifiers, app-installation identifiers, purchase history, crash information, and diagnostic information. For advertising measurement, Sproutkind sends Meta limited app-activation, paywall-view, and verified initial-subscription events and enables Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork reporting. If you grant iOS tracking permission after onboarding, Meta may also use the device advertising identifier and automatic app events to measure Sproutkind ads.

Visual-analysis photos

Journal photos and original camera-library files remain on your device unless you explicitly choose an online analysis. For that feature, Sproutkind resizes selected plant, bird, insect, or tree-ring images and sends them through Firebase AI Logic to Google Gemini to produce provisional candidates, visible evidence, care or safety context, photo-quality feedback, or a cautious visible-ring estimate. Sproutkind does not place analysis photos in Firebase Storage or your cloud backup.

Google processes online-analysis photos and responses under its paid Gemini API data-protection terms. Google states that paid API prompts and files are not used to improve its products, although limited logging may occur for abuse monitoring. Do not submit photos containing people, private documents, precise location details, or other sensitive information.

Private cloud sync

When cloud sync is enabled, Sproutkind uses Firebase Authentication to create a private anonymous identity and Firebase Firestore to back up structured garden records, care history, scan metadata, and city preference. Access controls restrict each anonymous identity to its own records.

Purchases and diagnostics

Apple processes subscription payments. Superwall helps Sproutkind present paywalls, restore access, and understand subscription state. Firebase Crashlytics and related diagnostics help identify crashes and reliability problems. These services process limited device, purchase, and diagnostic information needed for app functionality and reliability.

Advertising attribution

Sproutkind includes Meta's iOS SDK to understand whether a Meta ad led to an install or an initial subscription. Before you make an AppTrackingTransparency choice, the SDK is placed in limited-data mode: the advertising identifier and automatic event collection are disabled, while limited app activation, actual paywall presentation, and verified initial-subscription events may be processed for aggregate measurement with SKAdNetwork. If you grant permission after onboarding, Meta's advertising-identifier and automatic-event attribution are enabled. If you decline, those capabilities remain off and every plant-care feature continues to work normally. You can change tracking permission later in iOS Settings.

How information is used

  • Provide plant-care features, reminders, purchase access, backup, and sync.
  • Protect the service against abuse and diagnose reliability problems.
  • Understand whether core app experiences work as expected.
  • Measure app-install advertising with privacy-preserving attribution and, when permitted, consent-gated Meta event attribution.

Your choices

You may keep cloud sync off, turn off remembered online-analysis consent, remove individual plants, clear local app data by deleting the app, or permanently delete the complete cloud backup and anonymous identity from More → Settings → Privacy. Camera, Photos, notification, and tracking permissions can be changed in iOS Settings. See the Privacy Choices page for deletion scope and retention details.

Retention and security

Structured cloud data remains until you delete it in the app or it is removed as part of normal service operations. Sproutkind uses Firebase access controls, Apple App Attest, encrypted network transport, and platform security features. No system can guarantee absolute security.

Children

Sproutkind is a general-audience plant-care utility and is not directed to children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

This policy may be updated when features or service providers change. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date.
